It is a large species of bollworm that is found mainly in Southeast Asia. The tenaga kogane is characterized
by its very long forelegs. In Japan, Yanbaru tenaga kogane is found in Okinawa and is designated as a
natural monument.
This sample was CT scanned at the request of Bandai Co. This 3D data is used in the new “Yanbaru Tenaga
Koganei” in the capsule toy “Ikimono Dai Zukan” series.

Males have long forelegs, while females have short ones. It is thought that this is due to their long forelegs with sharp spines, like the horns of beetles, to obtain food and for males to fight with each other. The CT scanned specimen showed large spines of about 5 mm and 13 mm.
