Rat is a general term for rodents that have been improved from the dromedary rat. Because of their small size, high reproductive capacity, and short generation interval, rats are used as model organisms for human diseases and other mammals. In the West, relatively large rats are called “rats” and small rats are called “mice.” In Western fiction, mice are portrayed as relatively cute, while rats are often portrayed as dirty villains. In reality, however, rats are very mild-mannered, and they sometimes recognize and miss their keepers.
This was our first attempt at a mammal in the CT bio-illustration book, and we were able to capture clear
images of the skeleton. The large front teeth characteristic of rodents are directly connected to the
nose.
The 3D image shows the air layers in the respiratory tract from the nose to the lungs in 3D, and the
structure of the nasal cavity can be clearly observed. The tomogram also captures a small portion of the
digestive tract, allowing us to see food in the intestines and the liver.
