This is the world's largest species of hammiyo, which lives in southern Africa. It is said to be the
strongest carnivorous beetle in the world, and is so ferocious that it can prey on rats and lizards. In
addition, the H. hammii is known to move so quickly that it is easy to lose sight of it when it is preying
or escaping.

The CT data showed that the body contrast is brighter than other insects and is very stiff. They are so hard
that a scorpion's stinger cannot penetrate them.
They also have huge jaws, which are symmetrical in females but asymmetrical in males. The CT scanned
specimens differed by about 6 mm in length.
